I love things that I can spread over bread or crackers, or in which I can dunk crudites or crisps. Here’s a selection of quick and tasty recipes that make a great addition to your picnic hamper or garden party table.

Abroath Smokie & Wild Garlic combines the wonderful smokiness of the haddock with foraged wild garlic.

Avocado Hummus is a wonderful combination of popular chickpea dip, hummus, and unctuous avocado.

Beetroot Hummus with Tahini is sure to be the most colourful dip on the table.

Broad Bean, Pea & Mint Hummus is a vibrant, summery green dip.

Cheese Pumpkin Dip is more autumnal but perfect for picnics on those later summer-like days we sometimes get in autumn.

Cheesy Cashew Nut Dip makes use of a great vegan standby, nutritional yeast, combined with cashew nut to create a dairy-free cheese-like flavour.

Courgette, Yoghurt & Mint Dip is fresh, light and a great way to use homegrown courgettes.

Ham Pate is a great recipe for using up leftover ham and easy to make.

Hot Smoked Salmon Patéis a super quick no-cook recipe combining just three ingredients.

Houmous with Peanut Butter replaces the classic tahini (sesame paste) with peanut butter instead.

Mtabbalis one of my favourite Middle Eastern recipes, a smoky dip made with aubergine, lemon, garlic and tahini.

Pea and Coriander Dip is a mock guacamole of sorts, full of herby kick and pea sweetness.

Scandinavian Roasted Carrot Paté is super bright in colour, and in flavour too.

Smoke Garlic MushroomPatéis full of flavour and will be a hit with vegans, veggies and omnivores alike.

is another three ingredient recipe with a huge punch of flavour.

Smoky Bacon Dip is another super quick three ingredient recipe.

Sour Cream & Red Pesto Bean Dip is quick to make using everyday ingredients from your supermarket or deli.

Spiced MoroccanPaté combines chickpeas and Moroccan-inspired spices to delicious effect.

I made the mtabbal. It was yummy. I combine the stove top version with baking. If I make it again I may use slightly less lemon. Thanks for sharing.
