Have you heard of pickleball?This badminton/tennis/table tennis-like sport is the fastest growing sport in South Suburban. This fun and social game is perfect for all ages, easy to learn and provides a great physical workout. Want to join in? District Classes

Go from newbie to expert over the course of three training sessions in a bootcampor choose a one time clinic. These are designed forbeginner and intermediate players ages 18 and up. Learn to play Pickleball, get a great workout and have fun.

SSIA Pickleball "INDOORS"Drop-In

Come to our newest location for drop-in play at 6580 S Vine Street, Centennial, CO 80121. With a variety of days and times allocated for various levels there's bound to be a place for you.

  • Indoor leagues begin in October and run through late Spring. Visit our league page for more details at southsuburbansports.com.
  • Indoor leagues take place at:South Suburban Ice Arena(SSIA Pickleball).
  • Outdoor leagues will take place at Cornerstone and Lone Tree.
  • Cost varies per league and number of weeks. Teams are required to pay in full at time of registration with a full roster of players.
  • South Suburban hosts pickleball tournaments as well. Information can be found throughthe link below.

SSIA Pickleball (indoor)

South Suburban has converted four tennis courts into pickleball courts for district programs, drop-in play as well as in-house leaguesat SSIA Pickleball.Thisfacility islocated near Arapaho and University in the old South Suburban Ice Arena (exit north on Vine at Arapaho).

  • Fourindoor courts on a tennis surface.
  • Morning and evening in-house leagues.
  • Various drop-in play opportunities with punch pass access.

Cornerstone Park Pickleball Courts (outdoor)

Come check out our outdoor pickleball courts at Cornerstone Park! The six outdoor courts are located at the southeastcorner of the park with the entrance to the parking lot located off of South Hickory Street. The pickleball courts feature:

  • 6 outdoor courts with permanent nets
  • Push-button operated lighting at night (year-round)
  • Shade pavilion with seating and tables
  • Senior Shelter with restrooms nearby
  • Horseshoes, shuffle board, inline hockey rink, and skate park nearby
  • Rainout Link link for weather related court issues and closures.
Lone Tree Recreation Center Pickleball Courts (outdoor)

Come check out our new outdoor pickleball courts at Lone Tree Recreation Center! The six outdoor courts are located at the southeastcorner of the parking lot of the facility. The pickleball courts feature:

  • 6 outdoor courts with permanent nets
  • Open 8 am-9 pm, seven days a week
  • Push-button operated lighting at night (year-round)
  • Shade pavilion with seating and tables
  • There is a port-o-let available at Prairie Sky Park.
  • Rainout Line link for weather related court issues and closures.

1.0 to 2.0 Skill Rating:
This player is just starting to play pickleball and has no other sports background. Minimal understanding of rules of the game.

2.5 Skill Rating:
This player has limited experience. Can sustain a short rally with players of equal ability. Basic ability to keep score.

3.0 Skill Rating:
Ability to hit a medium paced shot. Lacks directional intent and consistency.Avoids using a backhand. Lacks directional intent and consistency.Not able to consistently sustain a dink rally. Not yet developed the ability to control a 3rd shot drop.Understands fundamentals. Is learning proper court positioning. Knows the fundamental rules and can keep score and couldnow play intournaments.

3.5 Skill Rating:
Improved stroke development with moderate level of shot control of forehand and backhand.Consistently gets serve/return in play with limited ability to control depth.Developing the 3rd shot dropin a way to get to the net.Moves quickly towards the non-volley zone (NVZ) when opportunity is there. Acknowledges difference between hard game and soft game and is starting to vary own game during recreation and tournament play. Can sustain short rallies. Is learning proper court positioning.

4.0 Skill Level:
Consistently hits forehand and backhandwith depth and control. Is still perfecting shot selection and timing.Aware of partner’s position on the court and is able to move as a team. Demonstrates ability to change direction in an offensive manner. Demonstrates a broad knowledge of the rules of the game. Has a moderate number of unforced errors per game. Solid understanding of stacking and when and how it could be used in match play. Beginning to identify opponents weaknesses and attempts to formulate game plan to attack weaknesses. Beginning to seek out more competitive play.
